I have two pairs of these and they are awesome AND look good.
They list for $58, but there is a discount code for survival lasers somewhere on the forums if you do a quick search.
I have the same goggles and they are rated OD 4+ in that spectral range. As others have said, the light getting through them would still be 1-2 mW (14,000 mW laser reduced by a factor of 10,000 by the goggles). I would personally treat the laser as if you were never wearing goggles despite the...
Why would you want to? The laser isn't going to be subject to subzero temperatures, and ethylene glycol has a much lower thermal conductivity than water anyways (water is ~3x better).

Elektron, does this make any more sense?
The first one measures the heat intensity of the laser (i.e. how much light is coming out despite what color it is). Good for high power levels.
The 2nd one has to be told which color laser to measure and looks for that color light. Not as good for...
Well, I'm looking for something more custom than a pen laser. I've decided that since I like ApexProxy's 445nm so much that I want a bit of power in a 405nm. Not sure what a $100 or less budget could get me though.
Besides having fun, what types of practical uses would a garage enthusiast use one of these beasts for? I know in industry they are used for cutting intricate patterns, but holy cow that thing is mean.
I always thought these were just called Tesla Coils. When I was teaching 1st year chemistry lab, my students always thought I was calling it a Testicle. Geez.
Wow, how did my rep drop so fast? I went from +10 to -139 for a simple suggestion that several of you guys thought was a terrible suggestion. Wasn't even a malicious suggestion, albeit a careless one (that I have since removed). I guess lesson learned, but geez.
