Might be a blown emitter, like others said they have three.
I've had some success with totally dead shorted diodes by reverse pulsing them at low voltage/high current but not so high they blow out the bond wires.
Hi, I feel really bad for saying this but..
If someone does ever run into a "zombie" 520 can they please consider selling it to me as I need a very low power (<5mW) for data recovery.
I tried the experiment with 405nm but it never worked as the lenses on most DVD writers attenuate this far too...
Thats a good idea, thanks for the tip.
In my junk box of doom :-) I found an RGB Luxeon and a white 20W LED
which might work as a low brightness projector, its good for 3*350mA so about 4W according to my calculations.
Will post model numbers and suchlike when I locate all the bits, as half...
Keep us posted.
If its any help, I have some SLA 7xxx series microstepper chips as featured in EPE.
These are fairly easy to use and the bare board is still available.
I also have a few nice motors, optics and other bits, PM me the specs you need.
Some folks find that using a Bluray burner...
Hi, I found these during a shed clearout.
They've been partially dismantled but the mainboards, colour wheels and DLP boards seem intact.
One is a Toshiba, the other is possibly a Panasonic.
Anyone have a use? Seems a shame to just dump them but I can't see any way to repair them as the power...
VCSELs used in laser mice sometimes use the can type.
The more recent package has the laser and 64*64 CCD with optics and proximity sensor in a single flat plastic chip.
Indeed.
If enough people refuse to pay the fine in one go then enough "prisoners of conscience" will get a public outcry and the law will get changed.
Provided the judge(s) don't just impose community service instead that is.
The problem is that this is the thin end of the wedge, (insert...
Hi, I have a few bits of PG here from my magnetic and radiation sensing experiments.
PM me your address and I'll send you some along with mounting hardware.
Also, you need to ensure that it is held to the thermistor with something thermally conductive such as low melt alloy or laptop thermal...
Sourced some nice 8 pin SOIC FDS6676AS series MOSFETs on Greedbay, seems that folks use 'em for repairing motherboards with blown Vcore supplies.
Unfortunately my MB took out 4 of my expensive chips on test, so the other 5 are being reused for something else ie this.
For 19 UKP this isn't too...
Ha, there was I thinking I "invented" this technique.
It was discovered by accident when reading Sam's LaserFAQ and he mentions a method of fixing dead laser bars with a sharp blade.
I actually came up with it after a similar method worked on a defunct large area blue LED which had a near...
Might be worth Epoxying over the delicate parts such as the SMDs.
It also means that a short is less likely to result in a runaway situation, and makes modding the unit less risky.
Did this to a "victim" pendrive just now so I could perform flash recovery on another pendrive using its controller...
Hi,
Probably a bit late now, but one idea I just had for making a better A140 heatsink.
Get a copper Aixiz, mask off the front and sides then fit diode and install ESD protection + cables onto the wires.
Then once working, Epoxy drop over the bare wires adding coils to ensure good solid...
