Damn, I wish I knew that before. I've been doing that with my first build all the time. I have the same problem pretty much, one day it's working great and the next it's probably no stronger then a 10mw.
I also increased the current when I replaced the batteries as well so that might be another...
I'm pretty sure my laser is under 100mw, it's set at 100ma but that probably is giving me anywhere from 50-75mw even though it looks bright. If it was focused perfectly it could probably do it but so far I haven't managed that.
Thanks guys.
I probably will try and clean it up later on. The batteries are already tight on space and my radio-shack didn't have small AAA holders, but they do have N holders and those are pretty small I might try those. There's no heat sink other then the axiz but the whole axiz is in there...
This was a bit of a pain to actually finish. I killed my first PHR before it could even work. But I did manage to get a sled, harvest the diode in it and mount it in the axiz correctly. The host is not what I originally planed either. It's a small 3x2x1in project box, the internals are a mess...
Just a simple (late) heads up about the orders. I ordered both products mentioned above on the 26th. The PHR shipped on the 30th, and the driver shipped on the 4th, didn't get any contact from O-like til the 6th, which seems a bit late to me. No matter I await both shipments <_< and I wish it...
Thank you for the reply, I checked out the rayfoss and besides the spikes it looks like an ok option, but I'll stick with the O-like after all then. I just need an explanation in layman's terms of where the wires solder onto since I wont be using the case for the positive charge. There are two...
Edit: I got the shipments I ordered, I soldered the wires on, tested the driver, set the current, and connected the diode to it and... I wired the diode backwards... (that was stupid) so I had the wrong color wires on and probably killed it with reverse current -_- It didn't work when I fixed...
