Okay, got the NEC NP-605UL apart. It's a NUBM34 array. Just what I was hoping for. Not bad for a little over $100 shipped!

I received the NEC NP-605UL today. I haven't finished taking everything apart yet (man ,there's a lot of screws !) but, from what I can see so far I suspect it's using a integrated array vs g-ball blocks. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks again!

The answer is no. Lasers are uniquely hazardous in that light properties can focus down to a very small, intense spot easily burning the retina. Sure, a broadband source of light (almost anything not a laser) can do this if its bright enough(nuke bomb bright) but it's highly unlikely
