More like the rep system has gone from meaning very little to meaning absolutely nothing.
A guy creates a thread just to whine about one negative and he ends up having it removed and getting 4 positives. If this is how members and mods go about using the rep system it is no wonder several scammers here have had great rep.

EDIT: It only really makes sense to either remove both the negative and positive rep to do with this situation, or to leave it all there. Either stuff on other forums shouldn't have a say here, or it should.

agreed the rep system has also become a way to fight like; "you neg repped me for a valid reason well i neg rep you back"

The original neg reps were uncalled for, especially the one from Electron.

Still, I think the plus reps were also premature...

Has anyone seen a video or pictures of the core getting LPMed? Or even an LPM chart for it?

(It's possible I missed a video since I'm blocking all videos/flash with with an add-on.)

Personally I have no problem neg repping someone back if I feel their neg rep to me was not justified. Fortunately I can count on less then one hand the people who have neg repped.

Ahh well, mostly it was just a certain "troll overlord" being a troll.

Aside from him, two other people I can think of. One was annoyed by the fact that I post a lot... despite the fact that earlier in the thread the questions I posed did contributed some crucial questions to the discussion.

The other was a guy who I actually consider to be pretty nice, and who I suspect just didn't read through the whole thread.

The idiots who get offended when you refuse to keep spoon feeding them information... those I don't even count

My point of view:

* Wicked lasers newb claims ridiculous power for <5mW pointer.
* fed up with nonsense claims associated with WL products, I tell him to prove it.
* He doesn't. Neg occurs.
* oh look, FOUR PMs from someone I just negged. Probably full of expletives. Delete

Remind me to make a thread the next time I'm negged. I'm sure to get OVAR NIEN THOWZAND rep.

Srsly tho... according to the wishes of the powers that be, I hereby pledge to refrain from "negging across forum lines."

I think a lot of the problem has to do with how someone, like Cyper, can issue one arbitrary neg out of the blue and have so much weight that it drastically effects a newer member's ranking.

Cyper has a history of throwing out negative rankings just because he thinks he is right when he is actually wrong, and has not checked the facts. I thought it was interesting to see the OP tell the same kind of story. It makes me wonder how many other people have also experienced this same thing from Cyper, especially since even talking about it is likely to cause someone, like bennit here, to jump down your thought just for sharing your experience.

im a bit confused?

i personally like cyparagon... he has helped me countless time with electronics etc. and has been teaching me about scopes recently.
