dvd burners run for like 30-45 dollars or so plus time to take the diode out and risk destroying it in the process i ruined 1 that i spent 45 bucks on and like 3 hours its much simpler and cheaper to pay 17.50 (45.00 -17.50=27.50 savings plus the time) and he had spend a good bit of time setting all this up and shipping would u want to spend countless hours doing boring stuff like packaging stuff for nothing? besides id gladly pay 17.50 for a bare diode thats ready to use then 45 dollars for a full dvd burner that iam going to take apart and trash for a diode thats not bare and increased change to destroy

also iam sure he had to buy bulk to get them cheaper the less you buy the more you pay so hes saving us all money there and i dont really need 100 diodes to buy then in bulk

I agree with the idea above.. even if the DVD drive was as cheap as the diode from this GB, i'd still prefer to buy a new & clean diode to ripping it out of a dvd writer.

As for the profit part: I honestly don't care either way. It's very admirable that people do all this work and not make any profit on it, but i wouldn't mind if they did make a profit either. Its all about the right product for the right price!

And this note to all - It was pointed out to me from a fellow forum member that I was being more than a little egotistical, and very VERY "LC" ish ! I agree to some of the points that were discussed with me (very professionally written, and a damned nice way to say I was being a jerk !) and will do my best to improve personally in that regard. I can make no promises that I am going to change over night, or not be pissed off when someone insults my honor or integrity - you guys are all family, and I would do this and more for family in a heart beat. I enjoy seeing folks making crazy nice items out of these diodes, and expand their creativity where I have not expanded mine ! There is some damned nice work going on with the GB diodes, and other GB items on here, and THAT to me is what it is all about. you guys are very supportive, so before I make you regret supporting me by being a further ass, I will step back and be quiet. But - like I told the other Forum Member - I stand by my decision to give that "individual" (See ? I worded it nicely !) I will not unban him to cause further drama and discontent. I htought I had explained myself reasonably well, and used a decent comparison with teh whole Porsch thing, evidently not ! At any rate, I am here to stay, so those of you who MAY want further explanations are welcome to PM me, and I will explain things further - I stepped a little out of line, and I am sorry for that.

One of the things you hopefully learn early is that the best deals are those where everyone walks away happy.  The folks buying are happy with the product they purchased and value it more than the money they gave.  The folks selling are happy with the money they got and value it more than the products they sold.  Everyone is happy.  It is the best and only way to assure future deals are available and at a good price.  As wonderful as it is when people do things for no material gain, we all have to eat.

Wouldn't it be great if we all got this great deal AND SenKat got thousands for organizing it and handling it?  I believe him when he says he didn't, but I wish for him that he did.

it's actually quite ironic that the person that everyone on this forum loves the most is the ONLY one ever flamed.

Funny... first of all... welcome Jes... I see this is your second post, but after reading your comments, it only makes me wonder if someone thought he was getting cheated and so demanded his money back and now is bitter he didn't have the guts to stick it out since everyone is so happy with their purchase.

Just a guess of course!

I bought ten diodes in the GB. The first one tried is a burner !! Worth every cent I paid. I can cut pop and burn with it and so will everyone else if they follow the plans.

Last time I spoke with Greg, He said that he hoped to "at least break even" on the first GB. -----
All this crap over a $1,350 TOTAL GB .. And a $2,000 profit ???? DO THE MATH IDIOT. GO AWAY. We won't miss you.

Thanks for the welcome.  Wrong guess though.  I should have introduced myself.  I have been reading the forum for a while educating myself so I didn't ask redundant questions.  I got pissed when I saw someone being raked over the coals for something I consider a virtue; offering good value and service.  So I signed up.

I am in for two of the group buy.

I had to restock my electronics supply for this little project since the last time i messed with circuits was a very long time ago.  Expensive isn't it?   I had a working soldering iron, solder, a proto board, some wire, the wrong size resistors and capacitors etc. but the rest is coming in from all over the world this week.  My eyes are not as sharp as they were the last time i did this stuff either.  I bought a pair of third hands and a magnifier on e-bay last night.  I read the safety post and ordered a pair of goggles from WickedLasers.  I even got one of those mini peltiors just because its yet another thing that didnt exist when i last messed with circuits and should be really cool to play with (pun intended.)  I don't really want to add it all up.
