I´m sure that someone is around who is able to help me with my problem. I have Windows 7 on my Notebook, enough power, enough free space... Don´t know what´s going on and why it doesn´t start correectly.

Are you trying to run the game for the first time?, did you just upgrade to win 7?
Have you got the latest DirectX / Vid drivers / .Net frameworks ect.?

try deleting the local content from steam, then having steam reinstall. HL2 is working fine for me in win7

This. Just delete Steam and update it, then reinstall HL2.

Re: Can´t run Half Life 2 on Windows 7

I´ve tried nearly everything... but then I saw that I haven´t activated the Windows Update :D
Now it works!!!

Anyone interested in a special server for LPF members with PW-security and so on? We could post some laser pictures and other stuff onto the level walls :)

Someone should open a poll if there are enough intersted members :p

A laser pointer mod :D

I remember QUAKE2 Multiplayer with laser sight addon :)
There was a RED DOT from the gun..

I occasionally game but it's become a rarer occurrence for me. Perhaps this summer I will have more free time and get back into it, if so I'd be interested in playing.

I can host from a datacenter in London for less than that if anyone's seriously interested - if I remember correctly they're only a couple of hops away from fibers to the US and mainland EU. We should probably test the pings for everyone involved before deciding though.

Would you be interested to get this ball rolling?
I´m sure we get enough LPF members together!

If we can get £13/month plus PP fees plus VAT, ($30?) then we can have a VPS with 384mb ram and more than enough resources to play any Valve game 24/7. That's around 6 people committed to $5 a month. That server would accommodate at least 16 to 24 people, at a guess (I don't know the precise requirements but I can experiment in a VM if anyone's up to test it).

Datacentre would be Blue Square Maidenhead (UK) - see what your ping time to bluesquaredata.com is if you're interested. If you don't know what that is, go Start -> (run if on XP) -> "cmd" then type "ping bluesquaredata.com" and hit enter. The ping time will be given at the end, it will be a value in milliseconds (ms).

If that's too much, then for £5 + PP + VAT then we can have a machine with 128mb ram, but I don't think that would allow as many players to connect (much of it would be the OS's usage or the game itself, rather than players). That would probably only allow us to store one game at a time, so it would be a longer process to switch between, say, CS:S and HL:DM or L4D.
