Yesterday I received my ordered lasershades from Wicked Lasers. Shipment was very fast, I ordered them on 5 may. Thumbs up for UPS. The goggles came with a carrying bag, a lanyard and a cloth. The goggles and the frame look and feel qualitative. The frame is made of slightly flexible, soft plastic and fits tight around my eyes. I was however surprised to find out the actual OD value and wavelength range are different then what WL specifies on their website. (Chido already said to me they would be OD 2+ despite what WL wrote on their site, turns out he's right)

WL specs on their site:
190-380nm OD 5+
606-694nm OD 5+

http://www.wickedlasers.com/lasers/Red_650nm_Sport_Elite_Goggles-18-11.html

Actual specs according to text on glasses:
190-380nm OD 5+
630-650nm OD 2+

I could of course send the goggles back and ask for a refund, but since I bought them for a 200mw red I suppose OD 2+ will suffice. And there seem to be quite a few satisfied WL lasershades users on this forum, which makes me trust the goggles. So I think I'll keep them.

And the great thing about those lasershades is that not only can you be protected from driveby red laser attacks when walking down the street, but you'll also look shmexy for the ladies :-* ;)

Hehe well for sure about this case. ;)

And now I'll have to wait for my 200mw red to drop in the mail. Until then my 'smexy' goggles reside unemployed on the shelf.

I had the same prob

Just email them and ask for the shipping cost back- I got >$20 back from them due to that mistake. Then they corrected the website... now for some reason they've put it back.

Would these glasses do something towards filtering 405nm light?

nope from looking at various colors when wearing them blue seems to pass right through...

oh I emailed WL and they said:

"Thank you for notifying us of the spec error on our website for the Red 650nm Sport Elite goggles. I have notified our webmaster and we have fixed the error. The only type of Sport Elite goggles we have is the one that you have received. We do not have any goggles with 606-694nm OD5+ goggles."

thats the second time they have mad that exact same 'mistake' lol ;D

Can you see the red laser dot through these glasses? For example with a >150mW red?

I can't decide if i should buy the $39 ones or these... I still want to be able to see the dot, just without the glare around it. And i read these block too much red.
I would prefer buying these simply because they look better, but if the cheaper ones allow you to see the dot better, i would buy those.

Can anyone help?

Oh, and about the 405nm glasses... I found some yellow "sunglasses" in my drawer, and discovered they let very little 405nm through. With them i was able to focus my 76mW Blu Ray down so precisely, that it started burning the surface of my wooden table! I just wanted to see how fine i can focus it, but then suddenly smoke appeared..

These yellow glasses wouldn't protect perfectly against a direct hit, but they are perfect for reflections when burning something.. On the other hand, maybe they would protect against a direct hit as well. I just measured the power of the Blu Ray through them, and it went from 76 to 0.

IgorT, I got a pair of these goggles.

I can see my DX200 still very clearly through the goggles. Even with a tiny bit of glare. They don't seem to block out nearly as much as I thought. The dot is very obvious and easy to see.

They still work really well, but not as well as I thought they should. I'm a little worried how they'll react to jayrob's 320mW, it might be too much... I hope not...

The "geeky" ones have a higher OD rating than the sport elites. I can see the dot clearly with my geeky goggles so with the SE goggles you should be able to see a brighter dot.

This is the focused dot of my DX200 @ ~115mW on a piece of white plastic:

And this is the same dot but looking at it through the WL goggles:

Dot focused on black plastic:

As you can see, no problem viewing the dot.
