IR appears as a faint red through glasses

First I would like to say I know the danger involved with dealing with IR light.

I have a set of Eagle Pair glasses rated at 190-450&800-2000nm at OD4+

When testing a pump diode for use in an upcoming 532 build I had it running at around 200mW and viewing it through my phone to see the beam pattern and test some corrective lenses I have. All is well there. I put my phone down to see how much heat I could feel with the back of my finger just for sh!ts and giggles and I could see a faint red light on my finger. Knowing all the posts about idiots complaining about a red light in their 532 lasers ( I can just see them pointing it right at their face up close) I shut it off immediate and now I'm here.

My question is, Whats going on? Is it lasing outside of the 800-2000 range that the glasses are rated fot? Are the glasses not really protecting me from 808 at all? Or is there a small amount of the red side of the spectrum lasing with the IR? When tested with a 445 laser it cuts the light down quite a bit. Maybe not OD4 but enough to where I would be able to work with it.

Once I get this set up and running and aligned the pump will be running at 8W plus. So I really need to be 100% sure I'm protected here. How can I test these glasses? Run the diode through them onto an LPM? Seems to simple but may be all it takes. Looking for your opinion on the situation.

Hard to tell without a diffraction grating if you're seeing the 808 or not, but some people can see into the NIR range. My best is 848nm.

But I'm seeing this with glasses that are supposedly rated at OD4 for 808nm. And at 200mW I shouldn't see anything except when using a camera right?

Could you see the red on your finger through the goggles or without the goggles on? If through the goggles then they may not be blocking the 808. If you were staring into the beam with goggles on, you might still see the bit of 808 that gets through the goggles.

Not necessarily, my OD4+ rated goggles for 390-540 allow me to see the light spot from my ~100mW 532nm laser and my ~100mW 405nm laser. I cannot see color, but it shows up as a spot of light, albeit dim light.

This is with goggles on and the light reflected off my finger(I see red on my finger) I can actually see 'red' when I looked at it. And that concerns me
