I just wonder how the laser laws are in Japan, if there are any. I'm going to visit over there someday, and might stay if I like it. The racism'll suck though, but i'll still have my lasers.

Look it up on Jref. The Japanese culture is interwoven with politeness, which means the snake will smile in your face before it bites. Japan is very xenophobic: if you aren't Japanese, then you aren't as good as them. Some people there, mostly the younger generation are cool with outsiders, but elders will have reservations. Outsiders aren't even allowed to hold seats in the diet. In some of the rural areas it's a little worse, especially for blacks, so i'll stick to the city.

1) Never heard of this site so its credibility is zero as far as I'm concerned.

2) Why would you want to move to a country in which you're convinced is full of racists?

You trollin bro?

^^^Actually Japan is known for xenophobia, and racism. Japanese people are however extremely polite. It's a very different culture altogether though.

Keep in mind that Japan also has very little crime in terms of assaults. Cops there don't even carry guns... It is also a much more homogeneous society, so while I'm sure incidents to do occur they are probably very under reported, so when comparing to racially motivated incidents to the US, overt racism is not as obvious.

The older generations of koreans and chinese are also very similar in their behavior/outlook on gaijin.

Historically the atrocities committed by the japanese against the chinese in ww2 are also of the same level if not the same scope as those committed by germans in europe.

Point #2... that is a good question:thinking:

I never said it's full of racists. Certain laws in Japan permit it, and it's not the violent, white power kind like we have here, mostly staring, and dumbass stereotypes.

You trollin bro?

Wow, I've gotten so good that I can convince people that i'm trollin', even when i'm not. You jelly?

I'm not sure if we're allowed to discuss other stuff like the failings of the "best" country in the world on this forum.

But still, since America spends it's budget on stupid shit already, maybe we can convince congress to build a satellite equiped with a telescopic camera, that hovers over America and captures laser activity stonger than 5mW, and alerts authorities in the area of a possible jackass.

Those people were morons but at least in their credit by sheer luck it didn't hit anyone in the eye.

None the less their behavior was inexcusable and that of an 10 or 13 year old not an older teen or adult

The sense of entitlement and empty pride just pisses me off to no end.

That's a big part of it, in a nutshell.

Also, it seems (GENERALLY, not saying this about everyone), that with each generation there is less and less appreciation for consequences and personal responsibility. The 1980's (if I am not mistaken) was referred to as the decade of the "ME" generation, by some sociologists. People are becoming more and more self-centered; anything outside of their own personal interest matters very little. RE: The guy that shot the above video.

A few years ago I read a report somewhere (I can't remember where, but it was a reputable magazine... Psychology Today, Scientific American or whatever) that there is a general tendancy - IQs are dropping and people are becoming more "rude" and more "brutal". It's kind of scary. I think the consensus is (among other things) that it is a combination of advanced industrialization, crowding, life whizzing by at a faster pace for everyone. It causes "distortion".

Agreed 100%. It's funny how people are quick to title you the Russian Spy because they're too stupid to pay attention and learn a few things.

I swear, this country is fucking doomed if things keep going the way they are. The new generations are getting stupider and stupider.

I know what you mean... even though I consider US to be my country, and I know there are a lot of worse places to be, I don't think I want my kids to grow up here. (If I ever have kids, heh,)

America is in decline. The recent/current recession is not going to end unfortunately, and I'm not really seeing anything outside of technological innovation that can pull America out of the decline. I sincerely hope I'm wrong though:(

You both hit the nail square on the head me thinks! I believe most Americans lack perspective on different cultures. The propaganda and brainwashing of our youth starts very early in life. I too was " programed " to think this, but one only has to look around to see the decline of this society.

A lot of people think my lady friend is a Russian spy. She had lived in Russia till she was 18, then moved to and lived in England for over 10 years before moving to America. Needless to say she has quite a deep insight into what she believes is wrong with this country!

Don't get me wrong, I was born and raised here. And I love this country as far as the land, and the concepts of the founding fathers. I just think in many ways we have lost our direction as a people. I just really wish " we the people " could come together and and see other cultures, and realize just how deeply troubled this country has become.

What racism? The Japanese are some of the politest & nicest people on this Earth.

"Politeness" is often a way of formalizing a relationship, to ensure those who are different stay apart through social barriers. Look up the word "gaigin" on the internet. Many places in Japan will still not serve "gaigins."

Racism is one reason why the Japanese had no qualms raping and pillaging Asia before and during WWII, committing atrocities that horrified even the Nazis. Other races were simple sub-human, and fit only for exploitation and entertainment. Comfort women (sex slaves) were brought in from Korea, entire cities of people were raped and executed (see the rape of Nanjing), and biological warfare tests done on cities (which of course the US acquired after the war).

You would think this was some nationalistic fervor, like the Nazis in Germany. However, unlike the Germans, the Japanese government continues to downplay these atrocities, for example glossing over them in schoolbooks and such. Such issues are highly contentious among other Asian nations in the region.

( @ Bionic-Badger)

Perhaps it didn't apply in my situation; but when I was stationed in Hawaii (~ 1992 - 1995 ), I knew several Japanese, including a couple of Japanese families. I think you might be generalizing... it's easy to do with almost any ethnic group that is associated with stereotypes.

I never had a problem with them, and never had problems with the way *I* was treated. I was suprised at their sense of humor... I used to pester them with jokes about Japanese Sci-Fi movies ("Godzilla" was my favorite target). They SEEMED to get the humor, the laughter / giggles SEEMED sincere. They make jokes about their own cultural stereotypes (the movies, anyway...). And they would bug me about "cowboys and indians", knowing that I was from Texas.

A couple of them mentioned that I " ... didn't seem tall enough for someone from Texas .. " (I am 5' 6"). I was asked by one of the kids if "I ever hanged anyone?". I just took all that stuff in stride.

Maybe *Hawaiian* Japanese were different (shrug)... I don't know how many generations removed they were from Japan.

I didn't notice that. I don't know exactly how the "as seen on" thing works on youtube, but i'm pretty sure that when we link these dumbass videos, and a lot people watch them, it traces back to a single site where a lot of views came from (us).

Repost, but still annoying. But as a Nashville citizen myself, let me inform you all that this place fills up with morons at night. I live 10 minutes from downtown and I haven't been there but once a month, and that's just to drop off the electric bill. Not defending anybody, but unfortunately, most of the general population here would qualify as mentally incapable of forming a coherent thought.

You know, I haven't seen one other person with a laser here yet... Again, though, I don't go many places where punks with lasers would be..

Edit: There should be a sticky of YT videos that need to be flagged as inappropriate. If we can't teach the masses, we can at least make an impact on where they get their stupid ideas...

I mean I'm an American, but I took a test to become one

That explains a lot. Now I know why you try so hard. Taking a test doesnt make you American, its make you a citizen. We're natives, and have the right to bitch. You can always go back to where ever you came from if you dont like it.

If you guys think it sucks here, go take a vacation to a non-tourist part of any 3rd world country.

It makes me more of an American than some inbred jack@$$ who was born here as an accident of fate, and doesn't know enough world history to pass 5th grade in a good school.

I took a test, and I pay taxes.. that's more of an effort to become an american than popping out of a womb.

We're natives, and have the right to bitch. You can always go back to where ever you came from if you dont like it.

Typically american chest thumping, flag waving, @$$hole attitude.

If you want to play the native card... what about Native Americans? YOU - your family, your ancestral race was NOT here first.

Also that statement is a blatant troll attempt.

If you guys think it sucks here, go take a vacation to a non-tourist part of any 3rd world country.

I do that once every three years or so. There are many terrible places to live you can't even imagine life in if you haven't been there. There are also better ones.

your ancestral race was NOT here first.

No, but my race conquered the land. Just like 100 other countries did around the globe.

Your place of birth dictates your nationality, not a test. I was born here, you were born in some American wanna be country. Then when you get here you figure out its not what you thought it was, and act like an armchair quarterback pointing your finger at "our" problems. Where did you come from? You can tramp my country but you dont even have the balls to tell us yours. Sure I beat my chest, what do you do? You hide. Can you be a bigger loser for thinking you have to hide your heritage for some unknown reason? They probably paid to get rid of you, like sending you to school. What was the reasons why you had to move here??

You play a rigged game, and thats BS. You're not as smart as you think you are, and this "front" you put up is transparent.
