[Ended]Buckyballs (Desk Magnet Toys) Sale

The freaking order from china got here over a week ago.

They sent me an update email last week that it was preparing to ship... so I'm hoping later this week.

Also... I've been spending a bit of time on youtube... it seems I don't have nearly enough balls for some of the truly complex shapes.

These were a little over $5 a piece for me, shipped priority with delivery confirmation they will be $12.

Shipped first class they will be $10. (Maybe less, I have no idea how much padded envelopes will run.)

Purely on a dollar to magnet to dollar ratio the chinese deal, or even fleabay beats this due to shipping. Although a whole crapload are up on ebay now listed at >$15 before shipping.

I'm still looking to see if I can find a comparable deal, in terms if quality. Unfortunately I don't think we'll see anything similar below .10 per ball anytime soon. Anything under .07 per ball is a decent price imo.

But I have 2 now(hopefully 3 or maybe 4 if others cancel), so thats still better deal than those chinese ones, right?

As buckyballs retail price, definitely... vs chinese, unfortunately no.

For you it would be 250 magnets (two $5 boxes x125 sets) and $7 in shipping.

So $17/250 = $0.068.

Lowest chinese price right now, (without buying a set of 20, or more) is 216 for 12.99, which comes to $0.06013.

For anyone else, getting one set, even worse. Shipping kills it :undecided:

Personally I ordered another five sets from here, so I could still have a little over 5000, with all of you guys covered. If anyone doesn't want them, I would actually prefer to keep the boxed sealed sets... they make for fantastic little gifts.

So bottom line is IMO, if you want to use these as a gift, let me know, and I'll send you out a set (or two Baron), still sealed in the bucky packaging.

If you're getting them for personal use though, you're much better off getting the 216 set from china. 125 pieces really isn't enough to have fun with imo. For any of the more complicated or larger shapes you need several hundred.

Each one of those spheres was made of 144 pieces.

Most of the guys posting on youtube have upwards of 10000 pieces, some WAAAY more.

In order to truly sculpt with these as I originally imagined doing, it would take over 100,000 imo. Which obviously is a tad beyond my price range :can:

I really don't get how kids on youtube manage to have 10k+ magnets, especially buying them at retail prices, which are triple of what you can get them for, from china.

432 is enough to have a lot of fun with, to pull off some of the smaller complex shapes.

It's half off everything including the sets of 216, which will be about 17.50 for the standard balls. Like I said, not quite as good of a sale but a sale nonetheless

Agreed definitely. Yeah no problem! I got into the habit from large orders, say over 100, I'll count them out once, and then just to be sure my number's right I'll take another pinch and throw them in. Better to be over than under
