Ok since I have been convened to buy the x-105 I got to looking at the alpha version
Though I have a few questions
First will my new lens pen micro that I just bough be able to clean the lenses on this thing?
Second is it waterproof like the EnVee model
Third are the specs any better than the x 105 model
And forth is it worth the extra cash to upgrade?

The Alpha feels sturdier from what I have read and will let you run longer duty cycles. Plus it runs on AA batteries as opposed to the AAA's the X105 takes. The biggest drawback is the three second delay...most don't like it and I wouldn't either. You can ask Nova to remove the delay but they will charge a fee. The laser is not waterproof.

It will not be brighter or burn any better than the X105...that is all I know about it based on what other members have reported.

I don't know about the Alpha but many people carry their X series with them all the time in their pockets. The only thing you would want to think about would be getting something to cover the lens to keep it from getting dirty.

Yes the shutter will provide protection for the lens.

Well, that was a question I asked a while ago too and no-one could really answer me straightfoward ;) ;D
Anyway, when I get my HP greenie, it is most certainly going to be a Alpha.
Lens cover, stronger, AA batts = longer batt life, key, etc. Just a great improvemen and is going to be very robust and stuff.
Good luck, and if you get one, promise to write a review, I'm dying for one. ;)

I got the Alpha and I love it. Have never seen an X series so can't compare them.

I went for the Alpha as it had the safety features that I wanted plus running on AAs vs AAAs was a bonus.

Either one would be a great laser it just depends on what you want.

Cheers
