hey, im new on here and i have ordered a green 50mw laser off ebay and i dont know weather it will have the IR filter or anything like that on it.

what will my new laser be able to do? will it be a well built laser? how far will my laser be able to point? how big will the dot be? will I be able to see the beamin daylight? will i be dissapointed?

Sorry for the questions but I would appreciate it if someone could answer them for me.

Thanks in advance

Send it back and spend your money on one from DealExtreme. It won't be well built OR have an IR filter.
An ebayser like that will NOT output more than ~20mW green, the rest will likely be IR, and highly dangerous if you're using it near people.
:)

If you got a GOOD laser that output 50mW (such as one from www.dealextreme.com )
you will:
be able to see the beam brightly at night
be able to pop dark coloured balloons
be able to see the dot on low clouds
be able to see it for a very long way

You will not see the beam in daylight with ANY laser short of close to 1000mW (1 watt).

And welcome to the forum!

ive just cancelled my ebay order and ordered a 30mw one of dealextreme.

will that be better than the 50mw ebay one eg. brighter, more powerful etc?

read any other posts? dx true 30mw seems to be one of the best values. most efficient as ive been hearing. only a few mw will be ir, where with a 50mw there is likely to be a lot more ir than there probably should be.

They do indeed... Congrats on a better laser for less money. When you want to up the power (and you will) go buy a True 50. No more than a few mW of IR, (has an IR filter) and will be a lot closer to 50mW. (like 48mW)

f22warzone, it really takes that long? DX lasers take 2 weeks to get here, almost to the day. (Australia)

I recently got a 100mW green from ebay and I think it must only be 20 really.

I live in US and my DX stuff usually takes right about 2 weeks. I actually ordered a MXDL and a Senkat diode on the same day a while back and got the MXDL first.
