I just finally registered here, but I've been reading posts for months. Thought I'd toss out some pics of my most recent build. It's nothing new. The host is from DX, the module is from o-like. The only thing i haven't seen anywhere else yet is the black Delrin face (no, it's not sharpied aluminum). I tried with an aluminum face, but it looked out of place so I made a new assembly to take this one. The rubber cap does a great job, and would no doubt hold out water better than the o-rings in the host. My digital cameras battery was dead, so all of these pics are from my cell phone. Sorry for the lack of quality!

so you machined the head out of delrin? where do you get pre formed delrin. I have an s&w plastic by me but they only have like sheet, and fiber glass.

It was from a company called Small Parts (add a .com to that and you're at their site). I just ordered a 3 foot piece of 1" round delrin (which is just the brand name for acetal, so any acetal will do), and tossed it in my lathe. I wish everything was that nice to work with. :) In my opinion, it gives the face a MUCH better appearance, and made it more feasible to get a smaller exit hole for the beam to come out. I wish I went even smaller with the hole, to be honest. These green modules give out a lot of extra spill that I'd prefer was gone.

I'm working on a way around that, though. I'll make it when I dedicate some lathe time to my copper heat sink bluray laser this month. Hard to find time for hobbies these days. :)
