I am curious, which wavelength has the most visible beam? I think maybe 445? or is it 532. or 405?

For the same power output/beam diameter and the same atmospheric/lighting conditions 532nm will be the brightest.

But for the money some of the more bluer muiltimode diodes that are near 465- 470 or even a 3 watt 9mm 445 diode.

During daytime *technically* a laser outputting 555nm would appear brighter, but unless you are totally loaded on cash 532 is about as bright as you'll get as mentioned by diachi. During nighttime this falls to around 507nm so a 515 laser would appear brightest :)

Actually the nighttime perception is a common misconception! If you can identify the color of the beam - rather than seeing a dull gray - you're seeing photopic. So typically unless you're dealing with really, really weak lasers, 555 is the peak. :)

Ooooooooo, thanks Sta :yh:

Thanks for the info guys. I really like the 445 color, about how high of power wouldI need to have a good visible beam? I have been eyeing those sanwu silvers and spikers but cant decide a power output to go with

A 500mw 445 is about equal to a 50mw 532 which is a good starting point for decent visible beam.
Maby someone will link you the relative brightness calculator, for some reason I can't get it through.
