What I usually do is that I burn something and say "imagine if this would be your eye". But then I'm in a technician class so all my friend have a technical background.

Well, there is only one way to get people enthousiastic for these things, and that's play ;)

Depends a bit on the person, most people i know well also know i'm not kidding when i say something can be dangerous. Then again, i'm also the loony chemist who throws chunks of sodium in the pool for entertainment ;p

I've had things like this done before with my laser all the time.  I don't let anyone else handle it now. (Well, I'd give it to my family and close friends, but nobody else.)

Waving lasers in peoples faces is a stupid thing to do even if it is to prove a point :-?

I had the same thing with some of my friends and to be honest it's not worth trusting anyone you don't know to be 100% responsible unless you and all of your friends all have goggles. In that situation I would just discretely loosen the head of the laser so the connection is broken and claim it needs fixing, or simply take it away from them.

I would have to say don't pull them out, 1) people are not careful with things that don't belong to them ( rental cars, your lasers ect) 2) People do not always understand the responsibility of operating a high powered laser.


Just be lucky no one got blinded and don't pull them out ever again.
