Getting stranded

I, once, was stranded in the middle of the forest in Utah in the mountains. Temperature was about 8F. I have since been more prepared not to have that happen again. I carry a light with strobe capability and an extra set of batteries plus a lighter and titanium whistle.

Anyways, are there lasers safe enough to signal a distress call, or am I better off just flashing my 500 Lumen flashlight into the sky?

Everything I EDC is titanium for rust corrosion prevention, such as when I went to Alaska or outings in the open ocean. If its not titanium, it is coated for corrosion resistance.

If you are concerned about durability and corrosion/water resistance, most lasers will disappoint you. I'm sure you can find a titanium host, but the lens, driver and batteries will be the weak links.

Just buy cheap AAA green off ebay... and be sure to check it before you head out into the wilderness to get lost.

honestly probably your torch. a laser for the most part is much more sensitive sure you can buy a water proof one but no laser is as durable to shock and in general as a quality light. but one seems like it would make a good signal.....

Thanks. I thInk based upon what I have the Torch I have is better. I have a waterproof phone, knives, a 357 Magnum, and a lighter, in addition to my whistle and food for even a short excursion.

I'll tell you that yelling for help in the middle of the forest and mountains lasted a whole 45 seconds before I realized it was best to get moving. Obviously, we were rescued. It was something I'd rather not repeat. I may not get so lucky, next time.
