Pioneer DVR-109

i have a x16 speed burner that i'm considering harvesting - does anyone know of anyone else who's taken one of these apart? are there step by step images anyone knows of? - if not, i can try to set up a sequence for other newbies like myself.

thanks

actually yes. there is a complete video along with my diy tutorial for building your own laser. I start with harvesting the laser diode from a 16x burner.

I was too chicken to try to desolder the diode I harvested from a burner so I cut the mylar away with an xacto knife. It just left the little blobs of solder on which wored well when it came time to solder on the leads. I guess I should mention that I broke off the ground pin, but that was due to the idiotic way I was trying to get the diode out of the heatsink. That's also the reason there is something rattling around inside the can. Hey it was my first harvest ::)

Oh, dang it, I just found out that my DVD writer is a 20x model...now I am unable to decide whether I want a "pointer" possibly ranging up to 350mW, and be able to only burn CD-R/Ws, or leave it as is, wait patiently for the GB diodes to arrive, and have fun with a lower-powered pointer while I'll anyways not burn DVDs :)

This is a seriously troubling question
