Hi everyone. Just want to say hi. i've been checking the forums out for a while now but today i finally registered so this is my first post. i know you're not suppose to ask stupid questions in your first post but i have to :( i want to be a part of this and be one of the dudes who have a modded green laser, so here's my question. I'm from Sweden and we've got a store here selling a Green Laser Pointer. I just need to ask if this is moddable.

Description:

A laserpointer with green light. Activated by a momentary button. Useful as help in seminaries and guided tours. Delivered with case and battery.

Input power +3 V
Optical Effect: <1mW
Beam divergence: <2 mrad
Wavelength: 532 nm
Batteries: 2 AAA
Dimensions: 142,5 mm X 13,6 mm dia.

Price: 779.00 SEK (115 USD)

So, i repeat my question,. do you think this laserpointer is moddable? and what Effect will i be able to get out of it?

its hard to tell until you open it up and have a look at the board, if it has a small, silver screw like thing on it then its possible to mod it.
i think you payed ALOT too much for that laser though seeing as you can buy a "150mw" green with a divergence of around 1.5mrad from deal extreme for $110.76 US.

So i realised when i converted the currency. :p So do you know any online-stores that ships overseas ? to sweden? and what should i buy ?

I know eBay but i wonder if you know some else..

Laserglow only sell 5mW in a pricerange of $59-89$.
My guessing is that no company is selling stronger lasers that 5mW for around $100. Am I right ?

Nah, :-/ can't find anything resonable :p but what if, say that i buy a <5mW green laser pointer. What are the possabilities that i can get it to ignite a match or pop a ballon? :-[ and, how should i do. just a pot mod or does it take more ? cuz i saw this movie clip on YouTube where some guy had a cheap laser turning it in to a match igniting monster by spinning the "screw" and burning some component on the circutboard. but i think that is hoax, i think he uses an other laser to ignite.. but.. back to the question. is it possible ?

How about Item number: 290118958844 on eBay. they say it's a 50mW 532nm. but how come it's only AU $19.99 ?

5mw has no hope of popping balloons or lighting matches even with a pot mod. Your should really think about buying a high powered laser if you want that kind of performance.
5mw lasers are only good for pointing and reasonable at starpointing (on dark nights) ;) Save some money and invest in a good quality laser from a good company avoid Ebay as this often leads to disaster ;)

how about a PowerMaster 20mw Green Laser Pointer Pen 532nm from Vavolo ? www .vavalo.com ballon poping ? :p

Highly unlikely to be on the safe side you'll need at least 50mw to pop balloons. some people have done this with 35mw but they are the lucky ones. Just buy a higher powered laser and you'll be popping and burning to your hearts content...

You get what you pay for in this world and trying cut corners will only make you wish, you'd saved up for something better.....

the 50 mw you saw on ebay, check out the postage price and the quality of the laser. it probably won't be 50 mw maybe something like 20 mw?

I'm very surprised no one mentioned www.dealextreme.com Thay have an incredible 30mW for $30 shipped. They have a 200mW for $120 shipped!
