Re: FS: 70mW+ 405nm Blue-Violet Burning "BR"Laser

Just wanted to compliment you on this laser. I like brick lasers, and yours is a very professional looking job. If I wasn't busy building these things myself I'd be purchasing one of yours. The demise of HD is proving to be good news for us, I was thinking it would be another year or two before bluray diodes at this power level would become affordable.

What driver are you using in the pointer.. and where can I get some of those glow tiles?

Heh, technically it's not a "blu-ray" diode, it's an "HD DVD" diode. :) Or more so a "Blue-Violet" laser. I'm using a standard ddl driver with a boost circuit. Tiles=:-X They didn't put me in the witness protection program for nothing. ;)

Alright, PM received and replied. :)

Main post has been edited for easier postage calculation if you're outside the US.

Okay, your laser should be on its way tomorrow. Others have been shipped today and should arrive in a week or sooner. :)

Here's a couple of zoomed beam shots from 30 feet away. Inside house, no smoke used. The particles you see are dust passing through the beam. A bit blurry as the focus didn't adjust to the laser aperture.

Skram,

Your 70mW+ 405 unit arrived yesterday! :p Very speedy delivery! :) Marvelous combo of features--great power ::), great hue , total pro design and construction , clear spec and instructions (astounding! I thot this was illegal, maybe an international crime ;D), USB charging--couldn't be handier :-?, and did I mention that power? ;)

I am quite taken with the 405 hue  and the associated ubiquitous fluorescence . The high power from your unit is a real knock-out!

Question: Your spec seems to say AA bat is okay, but its 1.5V is less than min. voltage, pleez splain..

ThanX!

Glad to hear it arrived okay and you're enjoying your new 405nm high powered laser. :)
The laser incorporates a voltage boost circuit to boost 1.1 volts or higher to the required volts. So it doesn't matter how many volts you have as long as it's above 1.1 volts. The voltage range specified is just the provided battery range as it's a protected lithium-ion battery and the internal circuit regulates the output to protect itself.

Skram0, Thanks for clearing up my question re the AA bat.

As for it being a burner, jcal, it focuses! I just burned a red match, and it stings the skin fast, too!

Re: FS: 70mW+ 405nm Blue-Violet Burning "BR"Laser

Mine just arrived.

It was love at first sight :)

This is a seriously good quality laser. Even box style, it's tiny size makes it look just as elegant as any of my pointer style lasers. (Seriously, I could hide the entire laser in the palm of my hand!) It's got a really nice button on it too. Props for the button!

And the fact that you can charge it via USB. That is a REALLY cool thing. I can just sit it there and leave it to charge when not using it. No batteries to take out, no chargers to worry about. All lasers should be USB chargeable :)

Overall, this is a good quality blu-ray that feels like it will last. The fact that it is box style only adds to its charm. Gives it character, not like all those typical 'pointer' lasers :)

Anyone who buys one of these will not be disappointed! ESPECIALLY for that price!
