This is m new Blu-Ray build that outputs 140mW at 150mA
It was mainly an excuse to show off Andy's awesome BR stickers ::)
Using a Flexdrive, and operating off of 3 primary AAA batteries. Stings my skin when focused instatntly.
This diode took one hell of a beating! I had to dig my knife into the diode because there was a thin layer of solder that connected the + and - pins, and i couldn't unsolder it because it was too thin of a layer >.<
Then, i kept my iron on it for 5 seconds because i was soldering the case pin and the - pin together, but my hand was shaking from drinking 5 bottles of BAWLS. Lol.

Enough talking (i mean typing ;D), time for pics!

BTW, the black thing/spot is where it gets focused to infinity.

And beamshots

Mow much did the host and heat sink cost you together?
If you are gonna build one, then do not use the thin metal washer.  For a BR diode, just solder the - and case pin together.
BTW, you also want to grease it up with dielectric tune up grease, and scrape the threads.
It's a hard build to do though, and requires some experience.

Beautiful job! What do you anticipate the LD lifespan to be at this current?
I don't know...
Climbak tested it at 130mA, and it lived for 4000 hours WITHOUT A HEATSINK
So maybe around 4000...
