Im looking for a host for a 22mm round driver w/ a 12mm module. I want it to hold 2 18650, or 2 16340 if unattainable. Can I get some pricing? Its for a NUB 7w diode. So Obviously I need a big heatsink. Not tryna break the bank. Any help is appreciated!
Have you PMed Lifetime17?
Could be he's on vacation? I hope because he hasn't logged on for 10 days..
Oh yes he can build a host to take 2 18650's.

Wanted to mention what is involved to make different hosts or pic one for different diodes and strength.
For 1W to 2 W laser you can easily get by with his 501B plug and play hosts. He makes them with a good size AL sink.

The one host i'm showing is the one Lifetime17 built for my 7W Burner!
As copper is the best at heatsinking he presses in a copper sink into a AL sink and even puts copper dust in the thermal paste he uses between the two.
The main inner copper sink absorbs the heat from the module and the AL outside sink pulls it away.
Tolerances are tight and alot of facing off from the front and back of the sink is needed.

Don't go really cheap with a host and small sink or a badly designed one. I'm not saying Lifetime17 hosts cost alot, he is a bargain for the work involved. Plus don't under estimate the heat that a 7W diode puts out..
Go with a good host first or you might regret it later?
Ask me how I know:whistle:
This takes 2 "18650"s

The ultimate for big Watts would be a Mag Light build I think.
On top of the heatsink size you can use 2 "26650" cells or 2 "36650" cells.

About 10 years ago I bought and used diamond dust in my heat sink compounds as that seemed to work best. Same stuff that one uses to cut diamonds with. That brings back memories.

Just googled and read that diamonds has 5 times the heatsinking capability over copper(y)

Yes! One of the reasons diamonds are called ice is that if you put a fairly large diamond in your mouth it stays cold there. It actually pulls heat out of you.

Oh really? I did not know that. Suckin on diamonds just never came to mind despite my luxurious upbringing ... oh wait

My point was that diamonds are such a great heat sink that few things come near it. Don't really care what you suck on.

One of the reasons why I hope the lab diamond trend will pay off for the electronics industry as well

Industrial diamonds are already fairly inexpensive. They have been for many years. I think most lab diamonds are going into jewelry.

I'm talking about diamond wafers like we already do with synthetic sapphire. We can then have monocrystalline diamond heatsinks

Lab diamonds are made under intense pressure, unlike sapphire. Wish we could make them as easily, but right now that isn't possible.

CVD yeilds diamond wafers. Just need the demand to increase and production costs to reduce.

Yeah, I'm more familiar with HPHT lab diamonds than CVD ones, but both use high pressures and temperatures to achieve crystal growth. I still don't see either being used as a laser heatsink, though.
