Custom Designing
We offer custom design work, primarily to create drawings for our use for producing your components, but you can also have us create professional mechanical drawings for you to use in the future with other machine shops.

Common Parts:
Custom Heatsinks
Custom Focus Knobs
Custom Multi-Diode Hosts
Other Custom Parts

Capabilities:
Creo 2.0 3d Modeling and 2d Drafting, Autocad 2013 (I prefer to do all work in Creo 2.0)

Pricing:
For basic heatsink and focus knob designs, design cost in minimal and is absorbed into the component cost. If you are looking for just regular design work, but are not having the components made by me, either because of our inability to machine a certain part, or you have having it CNC’d in bulk, rates will be around $25/hr. (I am very skilled in Creo 2.0, and can produce drawings very efficiently)

Custom Hosts:

Individual Orders:
If you are looking to buy a few custom heatsinks or knobs, then you’ve come to the right place. We offer custom heatsinks and knobs, as well as other components machined just how you want them. Often, customers will send me their hosts that they need a heatsink for, and we’ll get the heatsink made as soon as possible and shipped back. We do not stock many hosts anymore, so if you are looking for a certain host, just ship it to us, and we’ll convert from a flashlight to a laser host. No order is too small. We do orders as small as a single 1” knurled focus knob.

(Large Custom order for a Customer)

Bulk Orders and Group Buys:
We also do bulk orders and group buys. Running a laser shop and need 20 or 50 of a custom heatsink with high quality standards and a short lead-time? We’re just what you need! We also cater to group buys, so if you and several other people are all looking for the same heatsink or group buy, feel free to contact me and start a group buy thread. We’ll set a target quantity, and a respective price, and once reached, and the group buy closes, we’ll take payments from each member, machine the whole batch, and ship out to each customer.

(Bulk Heatsink Order)

Commonly Made and/or Stocked Items
Custom Focus Knobs
Tripod Mounts and Heatsinks for Laser Sensors
C6 Rainbow Kit, The Ultimate Laser Collectors Set
Labby/Testing Heatsinks
3 Diode Host Kits
Items Currently for Sale (Clearance)

Payment Details:
I typically use paypal, and generally payment is sent before any work begins. I will however accept almost any kind of payment, as long as it is safe and not a hassle.

FAQs:
Q: Do you build complete lasers?
A: No, we only build and sell laser components, however, in the past, I have coordinated with other members to do the final assembly of the electronic components, and then ship it to the customer.

Q: Do you ship international?
A: Yes.

Q: Can you make copper heatsinks?
A: Yes, but expect the price to be substantially higher than aluminum due to the higher cost, added shipping costs since I do not stock copper, and added costs due to the low machinability of copper.

Further Questions?
Feel free to message me if you have any further questions.

Thanks!

Host head will be in the mail to you tomorrow. Can't wait to see these beauties. This man does great work!!

Re: Mrcrouse's Machining Services (Simple to Complex) Design, Milling, Turning, Polis

I take it you're located in the US Crouse?

Re: Mrcrouse's Machining Services (Simple to Complex) Design, Milling, Turning, Polis

That is correct. I do offer international shipping though.

Re: Mrcrouse's Machining Services (Simple to Complex) Design, Milling, Turning, Polis

what machines do you have? CNC/Lathe/mill. Also do you use a cad program for your work?

I was just thinking about drawing up a host design in Autocadd and searching around for a decent price to machine it. I have admired your beautiful heatsinks but have you made a complete host or would be willing to try it. :lasergun:

Re: Mrcrouse's Machining Services (Simple to Complex) Design, Milling, Turning, Polis

It's all manual bench-top machines. I'd love to have bigger machines and/or cnc, but what I have is large enough for anything being built for laser hobbying. ;)

I am a student in an accelerated 4 year Bachelor's/Master's program in Mechanical Engineering. In that program, I spend 15 months of time interning. I am currently on my internship. I have autocad as well as Creo 2.0 on my personal workstation. I would prefer to use Creo 2.0 for any models, as it's best to make a 3d model and generate the drawing from it. I have not yet made a custom host, but we can discuss details and perhaps figure something out.

I am also currently going for mechanical engineering too! I will have to mess around with creo. I figured it would start to make things difficult for a complete host and I was wondering what about machining an existing host just for cosmetics.

Re: Mrcrouse's Machining Services (Simple to Complex) Design, Milling, Turning, Polis

That is also a possibility. If you are doing the drawing, then feel free to use autocad, I can view your drawings no problem. If I were making you the drawings though, I'd be using Creo, and then could export a dwg. It isn't really that difficult once your are proficient, but then I've done complete machine assemblies in at work from the ground up.

Also, if you are mostly looking for something that isn't black, once I get my buffer, I can take a wire wheel and remove the paint, and then polish it up.

Alright now I have something else to start thinking about during my free time. You have become my go to guy on here! thank you

Re: Mrcrouse's Machining Services (Simple to Complex) Design, Milling, Turning, Polis

Thanks! I look forward to seeing your design.

Re: Mrcrouse's Custom Machining Services (From Simple to Complex)

Polishing will now be offered as well starting next week once I get my buffer.

How much is the polishing price for one Arctic Laser host? Please send me a PM, Thanks.

Re: Mrcrouse's Machining Services (Simple to Complex) Design, Milling, Turning, Polis

PM'd. I will be offering this polishing service for all hosts and heatsinks including removing any current paint or anodization. PM me for prices.
