Heatsinks are about 2" x 2" x 1 " thick. The module hole can be either a 12mm reamed hole, or drill out to be a nice press fit for copper modules. Both with have a 6-32 set screw added just in case. There are also 2 1/4-20 holes in the base for mounting. (Any other hole size can be chosen at no added cost) Finning is an added option. Price is $15 each, and finning is an additional $5 for fins on the sides. Other options available.

(The dark spot on this picture is a reflection of the camera. Actual pieces will not be polished unless requested)

Setscrew and allen wrench included.

$15ea + Shipping.

+$5 for Finning
+$5 for Base (Can choose clearance hole size) (2 1/4-20 philips flat head machine screws are included to mount the heatsink and base together)

Base is 2"x2"x1/4" and has holes in each corner all 1/4" from the edges leaving 1.5" between screws. This is a nice option to make mounting easier as well as make the heatsink more stable if not using it secured to a surface.

Custom Options Available. I can have multiple module holes made, and different mounting options. PM me to discuss details.

Re: FS: Large Square Heatsinks, Labby and Testing $10ea Pictures Added

Pictures Added! These beauties were made on my Mill by my Father who is trying to make some extra money to hobby with; He is on permanent disability, so is stuck at home all day, and is starting to learn to use my mill and lathe, so needs some extra money for materials and tooling. (Don't worry about him "learning" he's a very skilled craftsman, so I can assure the quality on these.)

I would be interested in atleast 1 for a labbie build. I would definitely want finned....also, how would mounting work?

Re: FS: Large Square Heatsinks, Labby and Testing $10ea Pictures Added

There are two 1/4-20 holes tapped a little more than 1/4" deep on the bottom of the heatsink spaced 1" apart. Just need 2 1/4-20 bolts the proper size for your build. They are pretty much the most common bolt, so shouldn't be an issue finding something to fit you build perfect.

If you need a different mounting size or method, let me know, and we can accommodate you.

Re: FS: Large Square Heatsinks, Labby and Testing $10ea Pictures Added

Are they available in copper?

Re: FS: Large Square Heatsinks, Labby and Testing $10ea Pictures Added

Sorry, no, but we could get some copper for them if you would like. Would obviously cost a good bit more too though. For just one of them it'd be an extra $25. For 6 or more (whether we did a mini GB or you just bought 6 and did whatever, it'd be $20 extra each. Ya, I know it sounds stupidly high, but copper flat bar is stupidly expensive. Cost about $100 to get a 12" piece.

Edit:

Of course, if you don't need it as large as these heatsinks it can be smaller. If you are still interested, PM me and we can work out details.

wow and WOW!!!:thanks:

they look super- I went with unfinned and these three I got weigh more than a pound together- My stock AixiZ blank modules slide in with just slight pressure- I may not even use set screws-- Mrcrouse tells me that they can make some to your specs so that they match the beam to base height of your components. Looks like 8 of them would fit into a small flat rate USPS box. The threaded holes in the bottom fit the standard optical tables/bases.

adding some pics shortly- summing it up- extremely well done on the machining-bargain prices and shipping as fast as it gets.

Re: FS: Large Square Heatsinks, Labby and Testing $10ea (Custom Lab Heatsinks Availab

I've asked him about making a copper sink to my specs and he's willing. We just need more people to commit to a copper sink and he'll be able to make a material order. So lets get some interest I'm working on a labby style portable!

Re: FS: Large Square Heatsinks, Labby and Testing $10ea (Custom Lab Heatsinks Availab

I am interested in a copper version if the cost is manageable. But I am afraid shipping a heavy chunk of copper isn't cheap to Belgium.

The copper version TheDuke is looking for is more likely to be 1"x1"x1.5". It would only be $17 for priority flat rate envelope, and there are other flat rate methods we could look at for many of them. Out of copper though, those will be $25ea.

I'm also going to be working on a lab heatsink that is neither press fit, nor accepts modules, but takes normal diodes, and have a block that screws on the back to hold the diode in the heatsink. I can have them made in either 9mm or 5.6mm once I get them going. They will be $25ea as they are made of 3 parts, and require a good bit of machining.

Here is a pic showing three un-finned on a postal scale.
Each is ~1/3rd of a pound(149g)

quick and cheap shipping- Thanks Mike & Dad.

Question....how do you build these into functioning lasers? Do you make a separate PSU in a project box connected to a wall outlet? Tape a 9V to the back? I guess I just don't know what a completed one would look like.

Thanks,
Isaac

however you want :p

I bet len is using the ones he bought for his projector build. you could make a psu in a project box. or you could put the heatsink in the project box as well. etc etc

Maybe Isaac is thinking hand held- these fat heatsinks for great for lab use or in some kind of projector- lots of choices for power. Driver need not fit inside the HS. or it can be--like the man said
however you want

you could build into a project box a portable PS with multi 18650s.

That is my plan for a porta Lumia box rgbbr-two 1.3rd motors & 2 wheels
