Newbie needs help replacing a laser diode

I'm jealous you got your TLR-2 working. I was working on this a year ago and I destroyed my housing trying to get the epoxy out. Now I need to found a new housing, or have one custom built. So how's it holding up?

    Shapes

I was wondering if there's something I can buy that can place in front of my laser to make small geometric shapes? I'm thinking of wanting to produce a triangle shape at the size of 1 inch at 10 yards away.

IR Laser Diode replacement & Test Load build

Hmm.. after a bit of debugging, I figured out why my diode died. It was getting full 3.3V without current limiting as noticed by my large current ramping. The current limiting board must be in the module itself, but it's so small I couldn't tell it was built in. In fact it looks like a...

    Building Test Load - Help

You guys can correct me if I'm wrong.. Here's the explanation on how to select # of diodes based on the diode breakdown voltage: I noticed that if you look at a datasheet of the laser diode, it will tell you operational voltage. This is the voltage value is the target value you want to build...

IR Laser Diode replacement & Test Load build

Here's the situation. I a red laser/light combo unit. I want to replace the red LD with a IR LD. It is integrated together to a switch so I can't just replace the driver board with something else unless I custom a board. I was hoping to replace the red LD (<1mW output) with a IR LD with...

    My smallest BR yet! (PICS)

No, it's not rechargable. Just 3 AAA batteries.

    My smallest BR yet! (PICS)

The switch is controlled by a microswitch. I didn't change that since it's stock for this device. I removed the red laser diode from the module and replaced it with my BR diode. Then I hooked up a flexdrive to the BR laser to power it. Then I removed the UV LEDs and hooked the wires of the...

    My smallest BR yet! (PICS)

I took my BR diode and replaced it into one of these.. Pretty sweet.. now I have LED flashlight and then press a switch to switch it to laser mode. Wish I could have kept the red laser in it, but no real estate. Maybe I'll drill a hole and add it in later.

    Quick PHR question.

One of the other members mentioned using a mirror ro reflect the laser back so you can look at the diameter of the dot without the need of a buddy. Of course wear your protective glasses since it's a risk due to reflection.

What's the cost for the custom build?

    IR & UV diodes?

I'm about to order some 850nm from lasermate at a company discount. They are a company based in Calif so you might be able to order from them.

    635nm vs 642nm & sources for diodes

Chris could possibly have 999 happy customers out of 1000. Just takes one negative comment and it circulates around to be a big deal. Considering there's a few people here backing Chris up due to their personal experience I would say that he's probably okay to deal with him. I don't believe...

    New build, looking for rechargables

Thanks guys. I just found out from the distributor that the head unit can go up to 14V... Now I have no concerns about damaging it using the CR123A 3.6V NiMH batteries. :)

    New build, looking for rechargables

Yes.. Kaidomain is it. Thanks. Hmm.. looks like the 17670 is only 3.6V. I need 6V for a Surefire flashlight..

    New build, looking for rechargables

I have 2 questions. 1. I'm looking for a single rechargeable 6V battery that's suppose to replace 2 CR123. I was looking at DX for the battery.. but couldn't really tell what would work. 2. I know there's a competing company to DX.. can't seem to remember their name, but remember that some...

    **Disposable Camera TASER**

Re: Disposable Camera TASER Very correct.. Low current is the killer.. though I suppose super high voltage can kill.

Help! Did I kill my diode?

Can't be slop with the wiring.. Mistakes are costly. I even epoxy the soldering joints to prevent shorts or wires breaking off and damaging either the diode or the driver board.
