    geocaching and lasers

If anyone here is into geocaching, dollar store red laser pointers are good items to put into the containers. The packaging on some of these 5mW lasers are funny: I found one claiming it's the most powerful, best quality red laser in the world.

    Interesting observation

Sometimes I bring my 5mW green pointer to a mall or other indoor public place and aim it at the floor, right in front of small kids. They love it, and wonder where the sudden green dot came from, stopping and looking all around for the source, while their parents chuckle. When I do this with...

Are Wicked Hunting Lights lasers or what?

I was browsing through a hunting catalog which sells a laser-looking item called wicked hunting lights. Are they a type of laser pointer? The beam is thick, like a colored flashlight beam. AllPredatorCalls.com - The Predator Calling Superstore

    Smudged dot mystery

A green pointer I bought a year ago from Laser Pointer Pro has started producing a smudged dot. It's fine for about 10 seconds, then a halo-smudge type effect surrounds the dot. Any clues?

    Lasers and popcorn kernels?

Could a 1W or thereabouts pop a corn kernel into a popcorn? I'll leave it to someone else to try this idea. :yh:

    Close one.

President Obama was in my town a few hours ago. Air Force One flew right over my house, low enough for me to see its windows, coloration, etc. What a heap of trouble I'd be in I aimed a you-know-what at it!

Another use for a laser pointer

A toddler at the mall was having a tantrum. The family was standing around exasperated, not knowing what to do. I aimed a 5mW green dot in their direction, scooting it quickly around on the floor. The crying stopped. Everyone was startled. The tot's older brother said, "what was that??". I...

    Lego laser host?

I watched an interesting show about the company that makes Legos. So many things have been made out of Legos, It got me thinking....could a laser host be made out of Legos?

    120 W Laser

I stumbled upon a company that sells 120 Watt lasers for $45,000. Of course, it's an industrial laser used to cut intricate designs into wood, metal, etc. But imagine if there were 120 W laser POINTERS!

Will solar eclipse glasses work with lasers?

I waited in line for almost two hours to buy a pair of $2.00 solar eclipse glasses to view the eclipse. They allow direct viewing of the Sun for up to three straight minutes. Could they have any use for eye protection for using lasers?

    Balloon animals need zapping!

I recently observed someone sculpt balloon animals, for a party. Swans, giraffes, etc. It dawned on me that these would be fun to pop with lasers, instead of the standard balloons. Anyone here have a knack for twisting skinny balloons into funky shapes? I know I don't. But maybe this idea will...

    Shocking laser pen (literally)

I bought a cheap red laser pointer that doubles as a shock pen, for pranks. Haven't built up nerve to see how potent the shock is. The two buttons together are shaped like an exclamation point, and I don't know which one activates the light and which the shock. The warning label, written in...
