Thanks. The only problem I am having with this build is that I would like it if the lens threads were a tiny bit tighter. But then if they were it would just end up getting stuck and I'd just be unscrewing the head of the lens holder instead of adjusting the focus.
After numerous visits to this forum and enjoying some lesser powered lasers I decided to go ahead and build my first laser.
I wanted to go fairly small for the host so I went with this > Ultrafire Flashlight Aluminum Alloy Casing/Shell/Housing with Strap - Black - Free Shipping - DealExtreme...
You had better not be having a heart attack and posting the symptoms on here, sweating isn't exactly a good sign. Drink something nice and cool check your pulse if you can maybe take some aspirin. I'm no doctor but my dad had similar symptoms i.e. nodding off and profuse sweating and it turned...
That is exactly what mine look like under the caps, I didn't even have to try pliers with the set of three I just got, the caps came off with ease just using bare hands. But yes the caps are definitely cheap plastic on my tri-color set.
Well I'm not quite stupid enough to shine a laser in my eyes. :-P And I know the brightness of the 532nm is going to appear brighter because that wavelength is more visible to human eyes. That being said the dot produced from the 405nm appeared to be quite like what you might see from a weak UV...
So I ordered the set of three from cjy3271788 and they are not focusable and the only one that seems bright at all is the 532nm green. Needless to say I am disappointed but I can't be too surprised.
Thanks. Now I just need to decide what diode I want to use for my first build. I think I want to just get a 532nm premade module. I think DTR has the best prices on premade modules, am I correct?
Alright I've kinda been lurking this thread for the last day or so and now I figure Pman is the right guy to ask. I'm planning my first build using an Ultra Fire flashlight as a host, I don't really have a preference on the wavelength just want to find something good for fairly cheap. Looking...
Thanks guys. I'm actually gonna build in one of these -> Ultrafire Flashlight Aluminum Alloy Casing/Shell/Housing with Strap - Black - Free Shipping - DealExtreme I already ordered three of them and three heatsinks that I believe are made by Thejoker301. I bought three in case I decide to do...
Ok so I know no one knows me here but I joined a good long time ago after making a silly decision to buy a Wicked Lasers Arctic S3. The laser itself is ok but I feel like I could have done a lot better with my money. Anyway I'm back I want to build a laser myself now.
Well I finally received mine yesterday and it is really nice but it just makes me want to build something better. :lasergun:
It took just under 7 weeks (48 days to be precise) not as bad as WL has been but I really do think the wait is mostly because of customs.
Ok I have decided I have to get one of these especially because I finally received my Wicked Lasers Arctic Spyder S3 which is actually very good quality but I want to know the actual output.
If I win it I'm gonna be like "Oh crap now how do I put in the laser?!?" LOL :)
As it would be my first build I might need help from the masters here too. HaHaHa!!!
Yeah I hope I can talk my wife into letting me spend $100 on something that doesn't "DO" anything the next time these meters become available. Great price looks like good quality and I feel like I need to know the output of my lasers.
WooHoo!!! I just made my FIRST donation maybe this will get me to my first build that would be pretty cool. Ha! I could probably build a laser before I get the Wicked Lasers Arctic I ordered a month and a half ago. :banghead: :p
If you don't mind the wait the Arctic is a good starting point for a high powered laser. I did the same as you I ordered on 01/20/2011 and my order has finally "Shipped" it went out 02/19/2011 so it's been about 2 weeks who knows when I'll get it. But it is supposed to be pretty nice when/if you...
Hey that's me! LOL :p I live in Austin, Tx and I've liked lasers since I was a kid. I know that I'm a noob but now that lasers are getting more affordable I'm going to be acquiring as many as I can get my hands on without spending every dime I have to my name. :) Once I get the hang of laser...
