Default Can the minimum voltage of a Buck driver be used as battery overdischarge protection?

As an example the Lazeerer X-Drive is the buck driver I am using in my upcoming build.

I notice on posted specs a minimum voltage of 5.6V.

What is the electrical behavior as input battery voltage approaches this threshold? As my cells drop to 2.8V will the driver shut off?

It's obviously better to place a cutoff at a more reasonable voltage (say, 3.2V, per cell) but suppose that I don't have the luxury of protection circuits. I really don't, with 10440 IMR cells.

Could place a diode in the circuit (to increase the voltage when the cells reach the driver shutting off)

It will dim (or occasionally, shut off) when you go under the minimum voltage. 5.6 may be a rough estimate of that value though.

Sounds like this would be something for me to test and find out.
