I just got a 400 mw 447nm Spartan. It is a great laser and I intend to give a full review at some time. My porblem is I cant take the front cap off to save my life. I dont want to mar up the surface or anything so maybe someone has a good idea on how to take it off without scratching it up. The whole reason I am trying to get it off is so i can put it in a mount I machined for lab work I do.

So far I have tried using silicon grips to hold it and that didnt work then vice grips around that silicon but my hands got a tighter grip on it then vice grips. I have tried some other things too but nothing is really working.

Mine came off fine with a rubber disc bottle opener...sorry your is harder....

Though after I took it off, I just can't seam to get it back on there as tight, its quite easy to take back off. Those guys putting them together must have one hell of a grip!

You could also try using a hair dryer or something to heat it with (or leave it on for 10 minutes?)before hand, might loosen the threads just a tiny bit.

OK i got it. Yeah I was spinning the right piece. Its my third spartan I knew where to turn. When I get some time Ill take a pictures there was glue all down the threads and even at the top.
I continued doing what I had been doing but I also used a heat gun on the lowest temp setting to warm it then let it cool a few times to crack the glue then I twisted it with a rubber disc bottle opener. It worked like a charm. Thanks for your suggestions. It was definitely harder than any of my other spartans.

I see you have "685mW, 447 nm Dragon Lasers Spartan Series" in your sig...
Is that what your 400mW Spartan is outputting? LoL, that about what the 1W Arctic puts out
