Lightening Took Out My Modem And Computer

Wow...well then you are really lucky. So the storm was 10KM's away...and the lightening struck only 8 meters away from your home. Scary. You possibly did experience momentary deafness. I have no idea where it struck in my location, but I am almost 100% sure it came in through the cable line. It's too bad there is no 100% sure way to be safe from it.

I WOULD say that unpluging everything during a storm iwll protect you, but I saw ball-lightning travel through an open sliding glass door, and explode a monitor that the plug was 3 feet away from the wall socket.....scary stuff - almost had to mop the floor after that experience !
