Okay i just blew my second and last diode(or did i?) this was my finale diode and im wondering if it truly is dead i hooked it up to a dorcy mini but no light i took it out found my connections still good and tryed to test my diode for ohms and it read none but do diodes have a closed circut(as in they only complete the circuit when power is intruduced?) If it is blow im out of the DIY laser hobbie :'(

If its not emitting a dim red glow i doubt its dead, i soldered a lm317 circuit and tested it and it worked fine but when i hooked it up to the diode and turned it on it didnt light up and ithougth it was dead but rememberd they almost always emit a dull red glow still, unless you hapened to hook it to a 9v then it wont light at all.

....lazer..... ;D ;D ;D

i didnt hook it up to 9v strait lol (im a little smarter that that) i had it in a dorcy mini with two 10ohm resistors inparrallel to the positive pin and i turned it on and no go not even a dull red glow but it didnt flash or pop hinting a a blowout just nothing BUT sitll if i put an ohm meter to the postive and negitive would it read anything ???? is it supposed too????

Does your meter have a continuity tester, or a diode check setting ? If so - try that out....the continuity tester, and hte diode checker are one and hte same on mine....if the diode is ALIVE and kicking, I get a tone - if no tone, no joy, no photons :( Being hard of hearing is a bitch in this hobby, too :p hehehehehe
