Dec 28, 2007 #3 L Lorgar 0 Joined Nov 5, 2007 Messages 219 Points 0 I use a very fine hacksaw blade and cut almost all the way through one side . Then i use a flat blade screwdriver in the slot ive cut and give it a twist. Never had a problem spliting the heatsink without damaging the diode

This only works if there is enough to grab a hold of though. If it's an open can be careful when using a saw as it may introduce particles into the laser.
