I have a G828 (no brand name) green pointer, 532nm and it says on a sticker on the pointer power = 500mW but it won't burn anything, it doesn't even feel warm when I point it on my hand with the battery fully charged. It runs on a 3.7V 3200Ah Li-ion battery model AX 18650

It's actually around ~50mW since it won't burn. Almost all unnamed green lasers are the same.

How about a link to the Laser you bought.
The Label would state <500mW not =500mW.
The price you paid is also a contributing factor
to get an idea of the possible power output.

The only real way of knowing the power of your
Laser is with a calibrated Laser Power Meter.

Sorry, buddy, but it sounds like it's not actually a 500mW laser.

Or maybe it is, but a majority of the output is IR radiation?

Well, on the same line, I HAVE a green 300 mW. Had her for about 2 years. Burned great, no issues, just a few seconds to heat up. Now I'm having to FOCUS the damn thing just to get it to even consider burning black tape. Any thoughts? Initial thoughts would be that she's not putting out more than 90-100 mW. Maybe less...

If you have a sincere opinion and wouldn't mind, I'd love an e-mail.

It's probably stated <500mW, kind of a scam but yeah. Hope you didn't pay a lot!

Not a good idea to post email & name publicly - basically asking for spam. Recommend you edit it out.

About the laser, green lasers can degrade over time. Crystals could come out of alignment, pump diode could be dying, could be a driver issue, or even just a loose contact somewhere.

Thanks for the tip. Would you know of a place that could repair a laser? I did pay a lot for it, as it did function up to spec. I wouldn't be shy to have it looked at.

What laser is it? A lot is kind of relative in laser prices... to some $100 is a lot, to others, it's a starter kit.

Not too many members mess around with green lasers... lazeerer would probably be one of the best people to ask, but expect to wait a while, he is usually very busy.
