what is causing that rattle when you fire the tube?

I'll chime in here and say mine sounds just like that. Not really sure what's causing it, (maybe just switching noise? Maybe corona somewhere?) but it's perfectly normal as far as I know.

The tube is bad. There are two parts in the system; the PSU and the tube. The PSU has one job and one job only: to send ~22mA through the tube. The tube is getting current, and is not lasing at expected power. plain and simple: the problem is in the tube. There is no other conclusion you can come to.

Received the new tube and it works great. See my free to good home thread. if anyone wants it for experimenting or buildin a steam punk art device. it is theirs for just the cost of shipping.
