The effect is lines of dots, and then they turn into many dots and scatter, then go back to lines of dots again. You can create the same effect. Find some fireworks glasses. The type that make fireworks multiply. Place one lens in a stationary position, shine a laser behind it, and place the second lens right in front and slowly rotate it. There are videos, and pictures posted here on how to do it, and what it looks like. Just fish around.

Thanks TJ. They sent me a video from youtube of it working.
I might take the plunge and see if I can make it do what I want.

The biggest problem now is if I can manage to turn the power down to about 10mw.

:thanks:

Well, I took the plunge but from a different seller. (cheaper) Hope it works out. Even if it doesn't, at least it's more tinkering stuff:)

I had one like this, to turn down the laser power simply turn the square pots on the laser driver (not the controller which has a large chip), there are one for each laser. If this doesn't work you can always put a darkened crystal in front of the beams. IIRC the driver has analog TTL, you could also add a resistor to the + of the TTL signal. Sorry I cant take pics, I sold it to a friend.

I have seen these more than once and comments of it being "Chriatmas like" since it uses only red & green. I've been looking into these seriously as a base and adding a 635nm, 405nm & 445nm with the music frequency activating the specific color laser. I think that would be very cool.
The lower blues & violets for bass notes, then green for mid frequencies with 6??+ for the high frequencies. Also adding the speaker mirror " bounce", also a spiro unit running the same way.
I've seen the sounds card mod DAC , but haven't had a chance to look into it a lot yet. Still, frequency triggered lasers with multiple "display methods" seems like a very cool thing.
Anyone having ideas or links , feel free to PM me on this subject.
