Yep, dunno how long after christmas but it'll definitely be open till at least the New Year. Dunno what cases you're talking about though, sorry, perhaps I missed something here :-/

Its possible, but the WL exec and evo lasers had different beam properties and genuinely seemed entirely dissimilar from the original CNIs. I've taken apart CNIs and execs and they're definitely entirely different lasers. Not sure about these "elites" but if they already had their own manufacturing beforehand, I don't see why they would start stealing CNIs right now.

Admittedly though, the timing is a bit odd. Perhaps some higher level supplier of the bonded crystals released a new product recently?

oh sorry about that case thing i just read about the oceanus before and kind of got the info jumbled up sorry ;D

and also if the sale proceds untill after christmas then i am deffenatly in for one of the greenies.

So, do you think that the reason for the higher model RPL's and Pseudogreenmonsters (I forget the name of your rpl style green..) in recent months is also due to these crystals?

Just for an update, the order for these units has been placed with CNI so this deal is going through for sure now - on schedule too  :).


@Rob. optotronics used to buy through a reseller and they were only supplied up to 250mW units. These and their freaks provided up to the RPL325. Then they started working with Viasho directly and could purchase 300mW units, extending the series up to RPL 375. I placed my order just a little before that, so we both ended up with the better units around the same time. They can actually make higher power units even as far as the diode and crystals go, but the body cannot handle that much heat.

So - pseudonomyn137.....your lasers from viasho use the same diodes as Optotronics' lasers do ? As in 2.5watt pump diodes or whatever ?

Yes. The units I have now are made by the same company with the same parts - including the 2.5W nLight diode. Other than the name and perhaps a sticker on it, the Prometheus and Oceanus units are made to be equivalents to the Optotronics RPL Green and Blue. Feel free to contact me privately if you have more questions on that so this thread can stay on topic.

Still a lot in the air ATM, but I'm on schedule with my original estimate of 6-9 weeks from when I made the post (Dec 19th). That basically pegs it in sometime in Februrary.

Update:
For fairness, the >150mW green pens will be tested in the same fashion as the equivalent Nova X Series 150. You can read up on that here: http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1197951903/18#18

In short, the units will be guaranteed 150mW+ over a 30 second average, and near-TEM00 modes are acceptable (although solid TEM01 or worse are not). If anyone who has already ordered takes issue with this, feel free to get in touch with me for a refund. Sorry!
