But I'm not sure how possible this is (don't know your tolerances..) and I also don't know how strong 1.5 mm of aluminum would be.. if it would heat up and crack off or something.

But if this is not possible or would just be plain out hard, that first design would be close to what I want but except a 28 mm width instead of 26 mm. I guessed the size of a heatsink from Moh's guidesman 18650 host pretty dam good, was 2 mm off in one dimension, that was an estimate :p

This is definitely possible my lathe tolerance is <0.025mm or 0.001in. The 1.5mm wall thickness of the top step should be fine as long as its not going to see any abuse (repeated bangs or bumps). Would the first step (28x22) still be drilled for an axiz module (about 11.98mm) or did you want the 12.5mm straight through for some reason?

Yeah there seem to be quite a few members here in Fl, I've been considering coordinating a meet/swap/sale. I think it could be a lot of fun.

Well the thing is that aixiz has horrible tolerances. My last A140 diode is pressed into a module that is 12 mm almost on the spot. I can not get this thing to fit inside of a heatsink from Mohrenberg and I don't want to risk pushing out and repressing the diode so I have half a aixis module sticking out the front of my 445 :( thought about it a little, and decided if aixiz is liable to do that many a times to us then I should make a bit larger boar hole, but now that I look at it again (I only have a metric ruler that's accurate to 1 mm) I should go with a 12.1-12.2 mm hole. Do you think that little of a gap would affect the accuracy of how the aixiz module is held in place (I think it might get pushed to the side of the heatsink by the set screw and point out the host crooked)?

This is exactly why I sold the two hosts in the O.P. with aixiz modules. I made each heat sink to fit the particular aixiz module being used. So I would do the same for you to ensure a snug fit, and with the set screw, its solid as a rock.

@ Lasers and Masers, I don't know what I was thinking, I must have been tired or something but the wall thickness of the top step would only be 0.75mm. I'd be afraid that would get damaged too easily.

I meant diameter not width haha.. So the third step should be 4 mm thick wall and fourth would have 2 mm thick wall if the boar hole was 12 mm (12mm to make it simple to say.)

Or am I missing something?

Well if were talking diameter, then a cylinder with a 12mm ID and 14mm OD has a 1mm wall. Think a circle inside a circle, 1mm on each side of the inner circle gives 2mm added to the inner circle's diameter.

Oh that's ok I made the same mistake. Fortunately, I always draw everything out to scale before I actually do any work so I can catch any problems.

Yeah I would of noticed it sooner or later, just got a lot of stress right now.

Edit: I almost got kicked out of my place, so ^ it's not an excuse ;)

Ramsey_innovations, It's good to know you are around. I'll have to check my builds. What about shipping? Maybe I could drive over from Deland and save the hassle. A swap meet sounds like a cool idea too. Don't go anywhere, cause I'm gonna need your heatsinking expertise!
