Yes, even I decided to take the step to this wonderful world of 405nm. This time i wont build a labby, even if it would be easier, since i want my next laser to look cool, and more professional than my lpc-labby in a plastic project box :D

So, i've done a lot of reading since i joined here. And if i got the lpc labby built, i think i'll manage with this also.

My choice for the host will be the DX sku .3405, MXDL flashlight, popular choice.

I Dont want to buy a new battery charger, or lithium batteries :p so ill settle to 3x AAA batteries+Flexdrive. And my trustworthy old charger. ;)

So, i need bit help with this one. How much will my complete build cost? Well, lets see.

-phr-803t sled - 9.16e
-sure module - 2e
-mxdl 3405 host - 8e
-Flexdrive, very expensive :cryyy: - 20e
-extra AAA batteries (4 batts), cheap:eek: (3.5e)
-Heatsink-FREE, i think my "custom" home-built heatsinks will do a great job, like in my lpc labby. (The LPC-labby had a 15min of continuous lasing @ 420mA with my cheapo brass heatsink, and then i decided to stop, it was quite warm, but definitely not close to hot. Did easily 5min runs without any trouble with cooling.)

The soldering iron+solder, wires etc, FREE. i Got em already.

= 41.66 Euros? will i need anything more?

So the general questions: any tutorials to the 0305 MXDL build? any helpful links?

How about setting the PHR to 135mA? i know its bit much, but a new one is not expensive, 9e. If i'll ever burn it. (i like my heatsinks <3:eg:)

How much space is in the MXDL with FlexDrive? Will i probably have problems building it?

-OFFTOPIC : My LPC labby DIED. it lived 3 months of happy, and quite heavy usage @ the 420mA. Until, i shined it to a LED, what reflected the beam at the diode and turned it to led. Ironically, isn't it? a LED turned a Laser to a LED.:yabbem:

quick edit - i also like to let everybody know, that after the LPC ledified, i decided to take everything out of it:eg: I removed the diode from the Aizix module , and removed my big chunk heatsink. So only the bare diode in the wires. I knew i would have to sacrifice it for the science:p

The results: the "led" LPC-diode heated up VERY quickly @420mA without ANY heatsinks. i took time with clock, and when it showed 3 minutes from starting, i pushed some solder wire to the diode. IT MELTED and the diode was still alive :D after that, it lived 30 seconds.

= If you run an LPC-815 diode without _any_ heatsinks, it will last 3 and a half minutes. @ 420 mA.
