Default O-like waterproof laser, not actually waterproof!

Yep,
I got the 200mW red waterproof laser from o-like. Its probably about a month old. I hardly used the thing. I mean probably 5 hours total. TOPS.

I used it only 2 times under the water, and now there is moisture under the focus lens. This is causing the actual laser dot to have a bad outer ring. The laser wont even burn anymore like this.

Lots of people like o-like. I thought that I did too.
But I will probably never buy from them again.

To everyone with a waterproof o-like. Let this be a warning.
While the laser itself may not get soaked, moisture under the lens pretty much makes the laser useless.

I thought it was glued on. it looks like its glued on and its not coming off. I don't really wanna pry on it to hard and wind up breaking it... I might still be able to get a replacement or something.

Im not extremely mad about it or anything...

Actually, im not really mad at all. It sucks yea...
But my main reason of posting it was just to let future potential buyers know that there is a chance that this may happen.

EDIT:
It wasn't glue. It was just something to keep the threads sealed. I just now twisted the top off.

Its worse than I thought. The picture that I posted is obviously just the outer lens. (not the actual lens, just like a filter)
I cleaned that part off. But there is also moisture under the real lens. Which I think would be hard to get to in this host.

Yea,
I left it open and put it in front of a fan.... the moisture went away, but returned a few minutes later. Probably from the cool air.

So I am going to leave it sit open for a few days. Its been sitting out for about an hour and it already looks a little better.

Its not THAT big of a deal to me. I don't use it that much. I usually use my green laser. I like the beam and the distance pointing a lot more than burning.

But hopefully people can use this for future reference if needed.

Turn it on and let it run warm for a while? Wonder if this is condensation due to water temperature changes and not exactly a 'leak'... Does make me think twice about going for one of these, though. I always thought a beam during a night downpour would look kinda cool.

Sit it in a box with some silica gel or something, then once it's dry, pull it out and quickly reassemble it. If that doesn't work, there could be a bit of water left inside the laser, in which case it's gonna require a disassembly.

I suppose it depends on the water - if its pure water (in the sense of distilled), there is no problem just letting in evaporate. But if its tapwater, or water from your pond or something, any solutes in the water will deposit on the lens, still ruining the unit.

You could sumberge the part that comes off in a 50/50 mix of distilled water and isopropanol, perhaps give it a few rinses, let it dry and it should be as good as new.

Perhaps the one you got is just faulty, i'm not sure how waterproof they are in general.

this laser doesn't come with any documentation. I am curious what battery orientation this laser has. Does the positive end go in first or the negative?

Did you check the o-rings? I think that's probably where your problem is. Here's a useful site on maintaining them.

Kenom, negative goes first, positive to the tailcap.

I'm quite happy with this laser. Very good burning power / price ratio. Honestly, I wouldn't ever use it under the water - I see no purpose in it. IMO the real advantage of being "water resistant" is that it might be used in rainy weather.
