So I purchased this
2009727235247756.jpg

waterproof 200mW from o-like: New style waterproof red laser 200mW£*>5~200mw Red laser pointer£*>Laser&lighting products£*>www.0-like.com
for about $55 to replace an old-style didla that became dim (diode died?).

So. Here is my review (see attached images):

The laser is a bit longer and slightly heavier than a rayfoss one. [pic 1]

It has a GITD red tail clicky. [pic 2]

It has o-rings at the threads on the body and it came with a blank battery with the poles marked with a + and - (with pen). [pic 3]
The focus is very loose; It can be knocked out of focus very easily, it seems like there is too much lateral looseness in the threads.

The lens is not removable. When screwed "out" it stops when the focus-ring is about 10mm from the laser body.
When focused "out" to the max, there are evident "dots" due to dust on the inside of the lens/diode assembly. [pic 5]

Now, I'm not sure if my diode is crooked, but when focusing "out" from the focal point there is a dent in the red-dot [pic 6], and when focusing "in" from the focal point there is a tail on the red-dot [pic 7].
This doesn't appear to affect it's burning ability, but I know the laser is just poor-quality.
The spring (on my unit) is very wobbly, crooked, and feels like it was not soldered sturdily to the board. [pic 4]

From my pseudo-thermopile LPM (an IR thermometer and black foil) I calculated the mW output to be between 190mW and 210mW.

All-in-all relatively disappointed, but I understand that it's just a cheap Chinese laser. Oh well. :undecided:

Video of the laser in a bowl, added water, then lit match:

Nice review. I almost purchased one of these, I'm kinda glad I didn't.

The video of lighting a match while the laser is underwater is really cool.

Its too bad about the bad optics of the beam - does it rotate with the lens, or is it somehow caused by the LD itself?

The dent or tail rotates around the perimiter of the "dot" when I focus/unfocus, so it is probably a crooked lens. :yabbmad:
