I think I'll travel through the multi-verse and get me a 20x 10-layer blu-ray and bring it back here so I can build a 5 watt pointer! LOL This 12x does seem to have potential (at least on paper). This time next year we will probably have 16x eny!

Dave, i WILL build you a lazor from this 8x, and MAYBE sacrifice my own for "science"..

I think i can afford a $170 loss to learn what these diodes can do. It'll suck my PP dry, but....

At least you finally get a "Classic" v3 Heatsink/Module 8x lazor...

Since i do remember the PHRs i got, i will make it for free, since you already covered my work with those....

8x murder fund? i'd be in! make a new thread perhaps? I think this would give valuable data. still not a single 8x diode died from the "normal" limits (too high current and output, degration, then death and LED)! the only two dead 8x diodes died from other causes.. so we have no clue what their limit is, not?

I agree, a new thread would be good for such an idea... (donating to this cause and all)

I'll put in $20 bucks towards it. (more if needed)

Done! Let's see who steps up :san:

Haha, great!

I was multitasking, so i couldn't keep up, or make the thread myself...

Thank you for organizing this for us, Dave! :yh:

We trully don't know what their CW ratings are.

But it is my belief that whatever power the diode survives on my Cycler for 100h+ is a good life for a laser pointer!

I think 100h+ should be a laser pointer reliability standard.
A second standard for really pushing it would be 24h+..

With normal use, both limits take a while to reach.

I had special circuitry made for just this very purpose!
It's the "Cycler Circuit" which tortures diodes by turning them ON for a minute and OFF for a minute.

Now this closelly resembles MANY/MOST people's laser use, except with me, because i don't believe in the Duty Cycle Monster.

I use lasers for 10 minutes straight sometimes, and that's keychains!

My main build can keep a diode cool for an hour straight! Well, below body temp at least...

And that's good because they are made to live at 80°C inside drives for 1000h+....

We keep them cool for the most time. A few minutes at once at most, or one with most people.

I believe a diode at under 30°C can live almost twice as long as at 80 because it ages slower...

@ IgorT: Careful ..... your diode cycler / analyzer is growing too much ..... first or after, maybe, you decide to incorporate an IA for control all, then it take the control, kidnap you, and start to post in the forum at your place ..... :D

btw, diode murder ? ..... someone calls the police ..... :p

Thank ye, kind Sir.

@ a C note / pop, my already emaciated piggy bank may not make it to Holloween. Then, host, sink, power to dress up the bare nak-ked module, pore piglet is gonna be knackered.

But do 'preciate your rock solid offer.

Besides, I still have your red module that I have to figgur out *howto* house.

PeRhAPs stuff-ed in a small Altoids mint can/9V/switch config? Kandi.

Pause.
