This laser started it's life as a 532nm 100 mW, unstable, WL "200 mW" E3.
I stripped the anodized finished and decided to go with a brushed look,
using 400 grit sandpaper. I used a 1.25A linear driver powering an M 140
diode from DTR. I also wired an LED up to the driver board to make use of
the LED hole in the host. I think the laser looks quite a bit better than before
and I really like the way the blue works with the metallic aluminum.
I am a little disappointed with the power output however, it peaks at ~1100
mW with a standard glass lens, it may be my batteries, as they are cheap
and pretty old, or maybe just an inefficient diode. Either way, this is my
new favorite 'pocket laser' and an improvement on the original. Pics
