Wattmeter for adjusting a Driver?

I have dozens of RC planes and Heli's.
When I set them up, I connect a wattmeter between the batt and the setup,
to see how many amps/volts I'm pulling,
so I can run the right amp draw batt in the aircraft.

Can I use the wattmeter between the batt and driver, to adj the amps??
Or, do I need to set-up some kind of a dummy load?

While it's possible to use an inductive ammeter that way, you need to know all the parameters, so it's not very practical unless you are running a production line or similar.

Use a load like this or use a LPM ( Laser Power Meter ) and start with your driver turned all the way down and carefully adjust it up.
