In my experience, giving people the right search terms is all they need to find the information they want. Coincidentally, I find myself often wanting to help new people out without spoon-feeding them.
I've figured out a useful trick to link directly to a search result set.
Using this URL as a base:
With it, you can link someone to a result set. Just add the search terms after "query=" in the URL.
Thus, this will link straight to a list of threads where boost drivers are mentioned:

Simple, but IMO a useful way to pass on information without taking away all of the personal effort to obtain the information.
