I recently ordered a 12x bluray diode from DTR and decided to make up a host for it. The host is machined from aluminum stock. I milled the battery barrel to be octagonal for most of its' length. Side clicky switch. The tailcap is threaded (0.75mm pitch), the head is held on by a stainless steel setscrew. The lens is a 405nm coated aixiz metal type. (from DTR) This lens is carried in a machined brass lens nut that is threaded internally for the aixiz type lens. This laser is powered by 3 x 18350 lithium ion cells. The regulator is linear, using an LM350. I chose a target drive current of 450mA for my diode and used a 2.7 ohm resistor to get it. Measured current draw at the tailcap is 454 mA. Measured laser power output is 542 mW. Enough details, time for some pics ...
Here is the assembled laser. The head is anodized violet, the body is a gunmetal color, the tailcap is black.
Here is a pic of the laser apart. The head is direct diode pressfit, hence the brass lensnut and no aixiz module.
Finally, a beamshot. This photo was taken with the room lights on and flash used. The laser on top is my 638nm 500mW, it is holding the bluray power button on while I shoot the photo.
I am happy with this laser and how it came out. My anodizing is getting better and I'm liking the results.
