I was wondering, are there any low-ish power (5-50mw) 450, 405, 447 etc. nm laser diodes?
All of the blue diodes DTR has are 500-7000mw (excluding the Sharp 488 diode).

I have had excellent results on several project with Osram PL450B. It is rated at 80mW, but can be adjusted lower. I just used LM317 drivers.

If you can get yours hands on one of these Sharp diodes that is below 487nm, they put out a very light blue color. I have one doing exactly 488nm and gave my daughter one I built using one that measured 486.5nm. You may be disappointed with a low power 450nm as they are not very visible being so close to UV.
