I think I should tell a bit about why i came to this forum.
I'm new to lasers, and I wanted to talk to people, who can answer some of my (maybe dumb) questions, about building an inexpensive laser engraving module for my 3D printer. I previously had some experience with chinese "500 mw" blue laser modules for engraving, and generally understand how they work (drivers and PWM control).
However i do not have a good understanding of differences in laser diodes, what is needed to focus the beam, heatsinking and duty cycle. I hope to find advice here and learn things.
