The company diliverd it on there own truck so it wouldnt get broken and no i dont have a psu for it yet but im glad to have a co2 laser now ive been waiting for a long time to get the money to get one
When he rectifies the AC, he should get 1.7x peak volts but he may need a spark coil to ignite the plasma. I would use a Variac myself to control the current.
unfortunatly i dont have a variac the transformer will only be used to test the tube if it works then i will get a CO2 power supply from the same company the tube came from to run it properly with the current control
If the plasma strikes the output power would be low but its just to see if it works i would get more than 15 watts i hope
i wass told that if the tube ignits on 10kv it wouldnt draw the full 30 ma it would be like 10-20ma draw is this correct or will it draw the full 30 ma at 10kv
17KV isn't even the operating voltage on my tube let alone starting voltage. My operating voltage ranges from 14 to 24KV depending on current, and starting voltage is likely >30KV. You might be able to get away with a 10KV power supply for a ten watt tube, but not a sixty watt.
I'm looking for a little 10W power supply if any of you have one laying around...
I think it needs about 10kV @ 15mA... Just a guess. I know the operating current is 15mA, as the tube was labeled when I got it (said 14.3W @ 15mA) but it didn't have the tube volts :undecided:
