My scanner case had stripped screws all over the place, and wasn't really worth fixing, so I treated myself to a rack mount case kit :D

This is a 2RU case. Still building everything into it.

Oooh, that's one nice case.

Either your laser modules are massive, or your 2U isn't my 2U.

Yeah, it looks like it's going to be a bit crowded, and it probably will be after wiring, but I have all the sides/roof the mount the PSU's/amps etc to.

I have the front of the baseplate screwed down. Bought some 60mm fans and paid for the 5V PSU for the 445nm laser.

Long road ahead :) But oh well, it's fun ... sometimes ;)

Excellent photos, Things!

And thanks for the heads-up on the 12mm module heat sinks!

Okay, I keep seeing "scanner" everywhere. I'm confused. What is a scanner, as pertains to lasers?

... You're in a thread about a scanner.

In this sense, a laser scanner is a type of laser projector, it projects beams and graphics with the movement of y and x axis mirrors, and modulation of the laser beams.

Plenty of information around, this forum also has a scanner section.

Mounted pretty much everything :)

All thats left is the 445nm, it's dichro, it's PSU and a fan. Then just gotta drill the aperture hole and wire it all up :)

Mmmm, that looks mighty neat.

It'd look very professional once it's all set up- much better than your old crappy box.

Can't really test it out until I get a holesaw to cut the aperture :(

Looking good so far. So is that with the rack flpped, or with another panel on top?

Had an issue with the galvo amp getting too hot mounted on the side, so I mounted it to the baseplate instead.

Spent a good part of the day filing out the aperture hole. A few scuffs on the front, but barely noticeable and fixable anyway.

Pretty much done now, just gotta wait for the 445nm dichro (Tommorow hopefully), fans and the PSU for the 445nm.

Running :D

Got my dichro today :) Still a bit more alignment to go, but I'll do that on Thursday when I'm in the schools big sports hall.

Tried to get a pic of the beam profile, but even with a 1/1600 exposure, it's still overexposed.

Now just waiting on my PSU and fans :)
