How did you all stumble upon lasers?

I came across an article detailing how to make a DVD burner red (not the KipKay one), forgot about it for a couple years, came across ANOTHER article (again, not the KipKay one), and decided to do it because I was bored at the time.

    Laser Glove Mk III

Very awesome. I like how you managed to make it so much slimmer. Did you have to sacrifice duty cycle for compactness? Also, yeah I think the exposed batteries kinda ruin the looks and flow that you achieved with the MKII. Other than that, it looks amazing.

The Eagle Pair goggles protect at OD 4+ at 190-540nm. They will work for greens too.

    Help with I.D.'ing Laser Diode

Why is SysEng still here? At first it seemed like he wanted to prove something, but so far all he's accomplished was making himself look like the most fucking incompetent, dipshit engineer ever to grace the profession.

How to build a laser from a DVD/CD burner

Yeah I've heard of a couple of people who use the red lens for IR builds. It should work fine.

    Help with I.D.'ing Laser Diode

Confusing armatures with amateurs for the second time is too much to be a coincidence. I could point out the dozens of grammatical errors that make your posts look like they were written by a five-year-old, but I'm not going to stoop down to your level. I'm just inquiring as to why you simply...

    Help with I.D.'ing Laser Diode

To this day, I have not seen an educated, grown person as fucking immature as our dear OP. Claiming to have a top-notch education and 34 years of experience under your belt, yet resorting to petty name-calling and "dumb redneck" jokes instead of functional logic in an argument? I'm sorry to...

    Help with I.D.'ing Laser Diode

I'm not usually one to get involved in pointless dick-whipping arguments such as this one, but I just feel like I need to get a few things out onto the table. First off, flashing your credentials everywhere you go will not get you anywhere. Not on the internet, not in real life. I don't know...

Going to Build my first laser need help!!!

Don't cheap out on the goggles. It's your eyesight on the line. I suggest these goggles. They aren't the cheapest out there, but you can count on them to protect you. Also, if you haven't had any prior experience with DIY electrical work or lasers, I would've suggested you to maybe build a...

Anything useful in a Toshiba TV?

Nope. CRTs have a flyback converter which is fun to play with, rear projection TVs have various optics, but sadly LCD TVs have nothing worth extracting.

Re: J.BAUER Electronics LaserBee 2.5 Watt USB only + Data Logging $119.99.. In Stock Ah okay. I was just wondering because my workspace isn't exactly the most organized or well-kept of places, and accidents happen (not long ago I managed to get some screw-tightening fluid into the lens of my...
